Maybe I’m wrong, but from what I can tell Plex isn’t cross referencing what metadata it has stored when a file is moved? I’m busy migrating my files to a new location and now they’re detecting intros and stuff again which is a little bit of an unnecessary nuisance hahaha
You can turn off any of these in the server library settings while you’re moving things

When you’re done you can turn them back on, scan the library manually or just let it happen during regular scheduled maintenance
Yes, I know you can do this…
But, you still have to re-analyse the same files again. I’m just curious as to why they haven’t implemented a simple cross reference before they initiate this. Just seems like a waste of power consumption ![]()
Depends on how you move stuff. if you disable emptying the trash, you can move the files and rescan and the moves should caught. If you have Plex monitoring for changes, it sees the change, removes the old file, then sees a change at the new location, and scans as a new file (since the previous record was removed) By only emptying the trash after you are done you should minimize the rescans needed.
This is actually what I would define as “expected” behaviour, but that’s now how it behaves ![]()
It rescans everything, which makes sense when files are changed but when they haven’t changed, they have no logic in place to identify that.
