Good morning
For some files, PLEX won’t play and I can’t identify the problem
- The PLEX server runs on a MiniPC MSI Cubi N 8GL-074EU (https://cz.msi.com/Business-Productivity-PC/Cubi-N-8GL/Specification) and depending on the workload there should not be a problem with performance. Debian is installed as OS
- The PLEX client runs on a Raspberry Pi 3. This is an older device, but when I load KODI on the raspberry, everything plays without a problem (and as I understand it, KODI should be more demanding for the end client)
- I haven’t figured out why some formats play and others don’t. I mostly download .mkv files, which may have another format in the container (.avi, or .mp4, etc.), but I haven’t identified the problem.
I can’t deal with my knowledge. Now I’ve been running KODI for a long time, but the media management doesn’t suit me and I want to go back to PLEX. That’s why I’m thinking again how to avoid the problem. Isn’t it necessary to install some codecs in Debian (like in the old days of the internet)? Although the server takes care of the decoding, the transfer between the server and the client is not necessarily more demanding than in the case of KODI, and the Raspberry Pi 3 is already weak for this, so will it help me to buy a Raspberry Pi 4 or a Pi 5?
If anyone has a tip, I’d appreciate it.
