Why is autoplaying the next episode a good idea?

I suppose for most folks, autoplaying episodes is fine at least some of the time–maybe even much of the time. For me, most of the time, I would like it to be disabled. There’s no reason to let the episodes advance while I’m napping, which is something I do often. Really, though, most of the time I wish I had a way to turn it off. If I did, I would probably turn it off and leave it off forever. Simply showing the next episode and being able to start it easily would be much better for me. Many times, I simply want to get up and stretch or do other important or unimportant things between episodes.

So… If the application programmers are listening, I ask for a switch to defeat autoplay. That way, those who like it can keep it and those who don’t like it–people like me–can turn it off.

Thanks.

By the way, I guessed at the topic thingy in the box in the upper-right corner. One of my televisions is an android, but I have other Plex clients that would also apply. I couldn’t guess how to select what to put there. Why shouldn’t all clients have an option to defeat autoplay?

We don’t make the smart hub app. not sure where it is if is has a setting for that.

on Android TV in settings in the Experience row. you can turn off Play "Up Next" Video which is auto play.

(there is a known issue with chromecast)

I couldn’t figure out how to remove the smart hub app thing. My Samsung TV has a smart hub, so I thought maybe that was it. My Samsung does have a Plex client.

Thanks. I will look in settings again. I did try to find a way to stop it. Maybe it’s there and I didn’t make the connection somehow. I’m struggling to get to the point at which this all starts to make sense.

if you have a smart hub tv then you selected the right one.

basically for Samsung 2016+ Tizen models we make an app
For 2015 and before models ( which i think are all smart hub) it was made by a third party user who has been working on it forever. i have not used a smart hub one myself so not sure if auto play is an option there.

Thanks! Indeed I do have a smart hub TV. My Samsung is about five years old. I use it in my bedroom, which is where I definitely do not want to autoplay episodes. I don’t like to wake up and find all the episodes played while I was sleeping. Anyway, that app on that TV has a much different look from the other clients I use.

I’ll look again through the settings. I don’t have time to do so right now.
