I prepare my files and drop the folder into the plex library all at once. Plex is ignorantly creating multiple entries for some tracks, but not all.
The scanner here decided there are 15 tracks not the 11 that are actually present.
I have told it to scan the library and refresh the metadata several times and the duplicates remain.
inspect the Plexmedia info of both ‘copies’ to see which files on disc are referenced.
Maybe you already have copies of the same songs in a different folder.
Or you have referenced ‘overlapping’ media folders in your library properties.
(edit library, go to ‘Add Folders’ tab)
No, it’s creating multiple db entries for the same file. I don’t have overlapping folders of duplicate files. I have one top level folder that is the root. Here’s the file entry from the XML. They point to the same file, only they have different db keys.
1st entry
file=“M:\Media\Music\Michael Jackson\Bad\01-Bad.flac”
2nd entry
file=“M:\Media\Music\Michael Jackson\Bad\01-Bad.flac”
The only time that this happened to me was when I moved files from one drive to another and added overlapping folders to my library.
The only way to clear this is to Plex Dance the album.
Well, I nuked the lib before I went to work and told it to rebuild.
That fixed it up.
