Why is Plex turning artist's names with numbers into a track number?

Hello all…just recently added most of my music to Plex so I can access on any Plex device. I don’t use track numbers on compilation albums or my Promo Only issues. So I noticed Plex is taking artists with numbers in their artist name and making it a track number and they end up at the bottom of the listing. If there’s multiple numbers it takes the last 1-2 numbers it sees as shows in example below:

EDIT: Just noticed it will also sometimes turn a track name into a track number. (40 Kinds of Sadness track in the list) Not all songs will do that though as I just noticed looking through other albums…but artist names with number it always turns into a track number.

Is there a way to stop Plex from doing this besides adding track numbers to my albums that I don’t use track numbers in or manually fixing them? I have a bunch of other albums to add that I don’t use track numbers in.

Plex expects track numbers to be there. If they are not in the embedded metadata, Plex will look at the file name to ‘guess’ the track number. If the file name starts with a number…

Oh boy, so its either put track numbers for everything or deal with this and manually edit them out. Sigh…good to know. Thanks for the info.

EDIT: Seems i can’t even manually edit the file to take the track number out. Clicking on the little lock doesn’t save my change.
