Okay, I’ve got about 7 1/2-8 TB of media. Using the Android app on three different model tablets, an Amazon Fire stick, or the web browser on two different laptops I get a good solid playback experience. When I fire up the PS3… It’s Vanna, spin the wheel! It’s completely random. The app itself might take 30 seconds to load, or 2-3 minutes. Selecting a show might be instantaneous, or take 30-45 seconds to move up/down/left/right. I can start playing a title, and it will hang with the three dots mid-screen. The top and bottom bars are there with the name of the title and playback controls, but it becomes completely unresponsive to any command but the PS button in order to quit the app. In fact, I’ve had it hang, I open my laptop, open my webbrowser, pull up Plex, go to the same title and start playing it with those three dots still on screen. On the other hand I can play a title with no hiccups or any problems at all. It’s completely random. Furthermore, for the randomness, I can play a title that hangs and hangs and hangs. Quit the app, reload it. Same title plays flawlessly. I repeat, these playback problems do not come up on any other Plex client except the PS3.
Since I get good reliable playback on everything but the PS3, I have to blame the PS3 app. I’ve got the latest public release of Plex Server running.
