I just installed the Plex App on my daughter’s PS3.
It is completely unusable!!
Am I doing something wrong??
I have the Plex app running on Roku, A Generic Android streaming box, a Xbox 360, Several IOS devices (Phones and Ipads), Several Android devices (Phones and Tablets), and of course, Plex Web…
On all those platforms you can navigate the UI swiftly and all those platforms are responsive and one can navigate to a video and have it playing in seconds.
,On this PS3 It takes 12 minutes 30 seconds from selecting a library to browsing that library selecting a movie starting the play till the movie will actually stream. (I actually used a stopwatch and timed it LOL). And in about 50% of the cases an error message pops up saying that there was a problem and the player crashes…
Does anyone know what might be causing this behavior??
BTW if you are lucky enough after that long ordeal and still want to watch the movie and it actually does start playing… It does play fine… LOL
Ouch, that sucks…sorry to hear! I had lots of issues with my PS3 when they first released Plex for the PS3 but a lot of that has gotten better. Honestly though, IMO, the PS3 app (even though it’s been improved greatly) is still not a great Plex client. Its a bit sad too because it’s such a waste of decent hardware. My Raspberry Pi 2 with Rasplex on it is more responsive and I can navigate Plex faster than on my PS3.
Given your familiarity, I’ll assume you checked all the obvious things…i.e… system updates, playstation store updates, no downloads in the background (games, etc.) power cycling and wifi vs. hard wire (if that’s a possibility based on your setup)??
