Why is the PIN required on the PMS?

Soon as I added a ‘guest’ user to my Plex I am now asked for a PIN on the ‘Admin’ user when I open the webapp on the PMS. Can this not be bypassed? Asking for a PIN is fine when logging on with a device and I am happy with that, but why on the PMS itself (desktop PC/Win10)

You can add an IP or range that is allowed access without auth go to settings > server > Network > List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth and enter your servers IP here, you shouldnt then require the pin to access on the server machine.

Thank you @teshiburu for the reply. Would having a dynamic IP address be an issue with the authentic IP list?

Your server shouldnt have a dynamic IP, you should make it static

Ok. Rookie question here, when you say add my IP did you mean my network/internet IP (8*.16*.3*.**9) or my public IP (2a00::bb89::109f::1a01:) ?

It should be your local IP, generally one of these ranges
10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255.
172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255.
192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255.

The issue is my PMS is my personal computer which I use daily to work, game etc. Not a dedicated server in a cupboard somewhere

Still not an issue to give it a static IP on your local network

I added my computers/PMS network IP to the authentication list but it is still asking me to select the admin user and type a pin. All I want is for my PMS to stop asking me for a PIN when I am loading the webapp from the PMS itself, that just seems silly. Authentication from another device I am fine with. If I removed all the other users/guests it would back to how it was before, opening Plex from the system tray icon and jump straight into my server interface.

Just activate the preference “Automatically Sign In” under
Settings - Web - General

Make sure that cookies from your server’s IP don’t get deleted in your web browser. Otherwise this pref will revert to its default.

@OttoKerner @teshiburu

Thank you both for your time and patience with my issue. Appreciated
