Why is this service so obtuse?

I keep getting mail about buying a lifetime pass but nowhere is it clearly articulated what you get for your money.

Nor can you contact a support person and get an answer from an employee (as opposed to random community thought).

Why would I bother to spend the money?

How about a simple table:

Features down the left, Free and Paid across the top and ticks in the relevant cells???

Sure and that has vague entries like:

"And Even More

Subscribers have access to even more features and benefits."

There is no clear defined list of what I’m getting for my money.

The “more” is explained in the paragraph below of that heading.

Its starts with “For instance” so there must be other things too…

If the mentioned features are not of interest to you, then it is indeed not necessary for you.
(Although pretty much every Plex Pass benefit is geared towards users who do have a personal server.)

If you were perhaps expecting access to additional media content, no there is none with a Plex Pass. All “online” media content from plex.tv is available for free streaming with advertisements. Plex Pass or not doesn’t make a difference in this regard.
