Why isn't Plex finding artwork/metadata that is at The Movie Database

I am having an issue with Plex finding artwork/metadata for two titles. Both are concert/music videos. I place all of my concer/music video videos under a separate “Movie” library to distinguish them from normal movies, but they are under a Movie library. All other artwork/metadata for other videos in that library are being found fine.

I checked The Movie Database website and found that both titles are in there, so I am not sure why it is not picking them up. I’m not sure how to check the Plex database (or if it’s even possible) to see if they are in there.

The two titles are the following:

In the agent settings under Movies --> The Movie Database I have dragged The Movie Database agent to the top but it still doesn’t seem to find it.

For the first title the name of the file is called Evanescence - Synthesis Live.mkv, but that does not work. I thought about calling it exactly like the title at The Movie Database but Windows does not allow : in the file name.

For the second title I called the file Journey - Greatest Hits DVD 1978-1997.mkv. Thinking that the years were causing some confusion I also called it Journey - Greatest Hits.mkv and Journey - Greatest Hits DVD.mkv but still no luck.

I’ve hit Refresh Metadata, Scan Library Files, Optimize Database, Clean Bundles, and Analyze but nothing seems to make it work. How can I troubleshoot what is going on? Are there logs I can look at that show how it is doing the matching? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The library is probably set to using the Plex Movie agent as the primary agent. When you create a new library you can choose which agent will be the primary agent (the one that does the searching and matching). Create a new library for those movies and be sure to select The Movie Database as agent (under the Advanced tab):

Thanks for the suggestion. Is there not a way to change it after you have created the library? I just want to make sure I am not missing anything.

You can change the primary agent after the library has been created, but the items in the library are already matched to/with a different agent. You’d have to do a full metadata refresh on the library after changing the agent. I ran into some issues doing that in the past and ever since I always start fresh when making such a big change.

Ok thanks for the tip.

So that worked for the Journey title but not the Evanescence title. Strangely the info for the disc comes in but the correct artwork is not displayed. If I click on the pencil, choose edit, then click Poster, I see the correct Artwork in there, but for some reason its not automatically selecting it. I have just manually selected it for now.

Is there a way to “lock” the image I selected for the Artwork so that it doesn’t automatically change back to the wrong artwork if I ever have to do a Refresh Metadata?
