Of recent, the agent information has been defaulting to Plex Movie but Plex Movie agent NEVER finds any information on added movies. However, selecting The Movie Database ALWAYS finds the correct movie and works great. Only problem is, the one that does NOT work is default and the one that does work has to be constantly selected. Why can’t I make the one that works DEFAULT? Just creates a lot of unnecessary work that is automatically done in the TV Show area. Otherwise, it is working great!
Would you mind sharing some examples of your file names / folder structure?
Considering many other users don’t have the same „never works“ experience I’d be interested in figuring out what’s preventing Plex from achieving the same for you… file names is a good starting point for that

Two that where just added to the folder and showed up in plex just as they should. Plex looked at them and rather than show meta just showed a random screen shot from the movie. After a little trial and error it appears that plex does not like me keeping track of the year of the movie in the file name. Considering how many movies with the same name are produced, this inability is a serious drawback to knowing what is on the server. Unless there is a way to hide the year in the file name so plex will ignore it, I guess I live with the fact that I have to manually match every movie. Thanks…
Plex wants you to have the year in the file name… but in always that’s recognizable for Plex.
Example:
Life of Pi (2011).ext
Schema:
Movie Name (Release Year).ext
If you need to keep the technical information in the file name, you best put those in square brackets (Plex will ignore those).

You can edit your movie library settings under advanced and change the default agent for that library.
Appreciate the additional information, using to surround everything other than the title of the movie has made it so the plex database finds all the movies now. So the default is working for now. Makes the job a lot easier. …Thanks.
