Why plex.tv will not load on desktop browsers?

I would like to know if anyone can help me figure out why when i login into plex.tv and chose launch my server none of my friend will connect nor my server connects. Any browser on three computers in my home network will not load any servers. BUT my mobile apps (iOS, Android, Fire TV) can load all servers while on my network. If I connect to a mobile hotspot (att mifi device) on the computers im having issues with the servers will then load.

I have changed my plex server to use "Manually specify public port " and configured my router in the port forwarding area for plex tcp port number 32400. No change on the ongoing issue. i have reboot all machines cleared all cookies and cache. I have formatted router back to factories settings and re-entered the port forwarding settings. Ive also reset my modem for over 5mins. No change.

Plex.tv url will not load servers and when i launch the server app to open on the browser via plex ip address I can only load my server and every other server i have access too will not connect. I had one of my users also report on their mac safari browser they couldn’t access my server until they test firefox for mac and was able to load my server.

Please this issue is driving me nuts and for the life of me i dont understand how i went from working just fine to now broken on browsers via pc’s but not mobile/media apps. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated thank you.

What happens when you access Plex directly via http://127.0.0.1:32400/web on your computer (where Plex is running) ?

That works perfectly fine the ip for the server (http://127.0.0.1:32400/web) loads all my media. As for all other servers (friends sharing their media with me) will display as unavailable. If i open another tab or browser on the same pc and sign in via https://plex.tv/ and hit launch i end up here https://app.plex.tv/web/app with all servers unavailable inclusding mine.

Somehow one of your main ‘bundles’ has become messed up.

The fastest and harmless way to verify this is simply reinstall the same version on top of itself. It will not harm your Library in any way.

  1. Stop Plex.
  2. Reinstall on top of itself.
  3. Restart Plex

If this still doesn’t clear it, we’ll dig into which cache has to be cleared

I will attempt that now please standby.

Ok I downloaded Plex-Media-Server-0.9.1604.1911-ee6e505-en-US.exe shut down plex server, ran installation on top of it completing the “repair” process, reboot machine, relaunched, and duplicated issue. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web loads with no issue https://app.plex.tv/web/app is still displaying all servers unavailable including mine. Duplicated issue on two machines in my network. Android device on att network and on home wifi didn’t have a problem display all servers.

Ok… good, that’s known stable.

Verify your firewall and port mapping through to Plex.

http://www.canyouseeme.org/

Specify Plex’s port (or the ‘manual port’) which is 32400 by default. If it says it can see you, then your router & firewall are getting through to your machine… If not… you have the problem (it’s between your computer and the internet (aka, firewall and/or router has port 32400 closed/blocked/not forwarded)

Ok so i completed this test on both machines (one being the plex server machine) on my network with url: http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and entering port number 32400 results were successful.

ok… so ports are open and verified,

You go into Settings -> Server -> enable ‘Show Advanced’
Check “manually specify port” and enter 32400.

It connects?

Yes I had tested a manual port to see if it would assist with the issue and it just replicated it. Currently I left it on the manual port 32400 and I had also disable remote access and re-enabled it to see if it would reset anything but no luck. All the tests you had me complete were tested with manual port 32400 enabled.

Are you using “Jumbo Frames” in your network configuration? If so, turn them off as they do cause weird issues.

Next, Turn on logging, reload the home page, wait a minute, open the log, save the file and then PM it to me if you’re concerned about private data

I actually dont know what “Jumbo Frames” are…googled it says something about MTU size in my port forwarding. But when I went into my port forwarding for the one i entered for plex 32400 i dont see the option to change MTU size. I am not using any type of custom ROM for my router; it is using stock ROM.

Jumbo frames are the size of the MTU (how many bytes are in each actual packet of data your computer sends on the wire when it transmits or expects to receive). This setting would be down with the IP address of your computer, typically in the ‘advanced’ properties on Windows for the adapter. The default and industry standard is 1500 (always has been because the complete math picture works out)

If you’ve never touched them, they will default to 1500.

Please continue with turning on all the logging, go to the home page… let it try (wait a minute until it gives up)… then grab your log files and forward them (paste or pm)

Logs have been sent via DM thank you.

I have the same problem. Plex works on ipads, etc, but cannot connect locally using plex.tx app. this also affects connecting via Roku3. All of this has worked for over a year until last update. Logs incoming

Thanks… and received. going through them
