Plex has all 4 seasons of Creepshow and yet it will only play season 1. Everytime I go to the other seasons there is a ‘where to watch’ button instead of the ‘watch now’. I know where to watch. What I don’t know is why the other seasons won’t play and season 1 does. Why is this?
I don’t think that is true.
It is more like: “Plex has informations about all 4 seasons of Creepshow”
Plex has not necessarily all the actual video available for streaming.
There is no streaming service in the world which has everything available for streaming. (Well, except illegal ones, perhaps.)
I don’t think the user in question failed to understand that there’s no such thing as a lollipop and rainbow streaming service.
Maybe the more productive way to think about this is that when people open the Plex application to watch videos (local or remote), they expect what they’re looking at is a streaming service, and what they’re actually looking at is a combination of a streaming service and Wikipedia, and – unsurprisingly, I think – a lot of people don’t know to expect that or don’t even know what they’re looking at when they are looking at it.
I assume the idea of including pages for content that’s not available is about driving watchlist engagement KPI or whatever, I am literally falling asleep writing this sentence because of how uninteresting it is. My sense would be given that’s the overriding purpose, you’d want to think hard about how to best present the page as being a watchlist funnel rather than actual content. ![]()
