While I’m using the Apple TV player, from what I’ve read these are issues for other players as well.
When I set Plex to play videos in a folder, it always stops after 3-4 episodes to make sure I’m still watching. Why? And why can’t I change it?
And when I watch, it always pauses 15 seconds between videos. Again, why? And, again, why can’t I change this in settings?
Today I went out and left Plex on LiveTV and came back hours later and it was still streaming. The forced time-out when playing local videos, when it can’t be turned off, is silly and capricious in the first place, but even sillier when seen in the context of LiveTV not having a similar shut-off. I deal with autistic individuals in my house some days and allowing them to leave the TV on their shows works well, but when when the Plex player insists on being “refreshed” at times, it creates a problem.
I can understand developers having reasons to do this, but to force it on all users is absurd and, as I mentioned above, capricious. (“We know what’s good for you and you don’t.”)
The issue of the forced 15 second pause between videos is similar for me, since it creates a distraction for some of the people around here who ware watching TV shows on my video playback. I can see the reasoning for it but, again, not making it configurable makes it a pain for some people. Why isn’t it adjustable or possible to eliminate in settings somewhere?
