Why the Cast and Crew (actors) not showing on Nvidia Shield Client?

@MovieFan.Plex said:
I’m moving this thread to the Android TV section which is where questions for the client should go. This section is for the Shield as a server. As a server, the cast info is there. As a client, it hasn’t been implement.

Hello, some news about the cast and crew on Android Client?
Is scheduled for development?
Is not in the Plex team plans?

Any answer is really appreciated

Thank you

It’s interesting to see that when you search via plex, the actor images do in fact come up.

Hopefully this means it won’t be hard to add to movie/tv show pre play screens

You would think they would keep with the square looks rather then the round looks icons.

This would match the current android design more.

Tho, I would be happy with any at this point.

Well, I don’t care if it is a square, round or whatever, the info needs to be placed in the movie info, down or below the extras AND the ideal scenario is IF you can click over the actor and the client shows what movies you have with the actor that you choice.

Cheers!

this link to the answer from Plex team doesn’t work for me. it says I need a Plex pass (which I have lifetime) or I need to be beta tester (which I’m not). can you post their reply here please?

thanks

Cast and Crew are not showing .

This hasn’t been implemented in the Android app.

Neither of these issues are directly related to 6.4.0.

Do I need to made a request, in the request section? or, is a feature in working progress?
I ask you because all the other clients seems work with that feature that is not on the Android app.

Request for the Cast info? No need, it’s already on our todo list. I don’t have info on when it may be added but it’s on the list. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things on that list.

Thank you @“MovieFan.Plex” for your quick answer. Really appreciated.

Have a nice weekend!

It is frustrating that the info is there when you use the plex app on an android phone but it is not there on the shield which is an android device…

I still await this feature…

Hopefully sometime soon

Hi,
The same issue for me too.
The detailled display view for movie lacks crew (cast) informations (for shield android tv). It’s very disapointing iin comparison to server options.
It also lacks path information. In my case i’ve several media storages and the path is very usefull to plug the right media storage.
I hope Plex team will improve this very soon.
Kind regards.

+1 for showing cast members on the NVIDIA Shield Plex client. I am using the Shield for both a Plex Server and Client, and I am surprised this is missing, as I really miss it.

Since it is still missing even after the unification update, here is my official feature request for up-voting.

Looks like we’re still waiting for cast members to be added to the Plex client. I discovered Emby a few months ago and and it already has this feature. I am amazed after all the folks asking for Plex to implement this it has not happened. All in all it appears that Emby is more responsive to to user requests and support than Plex. I purchased a lifetime membership to Emby and for now my Plex server is gathering dust.

nearly 2020 and still not been done! This was the single reason i didn’t buy a lifetime plex pass and now considering a switch away to Emby

Why can’t this be fixed? Its’s very frustrating to have all these updates for Plex on the Shield and this issue has not been dealt with. Can someone from Plex please acknowledge that this is at least being looked into?

I would also like to see this fixed.

3 Years Later…

Doesn’t exactly make me want to rush out and buy a Shield.

Pretty sure it’s not limited to the Shield - Fire TV app has the same issue (basically anything designed for Android I think)…

I was finding this thread interesting because, I know I’ve reached a certain age but believe me, senility has NOT stepped in. It wasn’t that long ago I remember seeing cast members below the description but I don’t remember if it was for TV shows or Movies…but they did show up. However, that is not the only thing I no longer see so I’m trying to see if others are having the same experience we’re having to see how they may have fixed what Plex broke.
