I think when they switched to the UNO interface in Android the cast member info didn’t make it over. That being said they should be able to add it back, just probably not high on their priority list.
It would really help if at least someone from Plex would acknowledge it but all we hear are crickets.
It’s so annoying. People have been asking for this for years. It’s basic and pretty core to Plex’s whole point. You already have it on the web app, why not on the shield version? Why would the Plex team even think it’s ok not to have that meta data be pulled in in the first place? Meta data is one of the only reasons anyone uses Plex or media organisers. Otherwise I can just setup a netowork share and stream movie files if I didn’t care about the meta data!!
I’d like to see the Plex team acknowledge this forum, and if this problem is something they may consider resolving,… otherwise whats the use.
Shows how useful the forums are…
Hey Plex! Any word on adding the cast for movies to the nVidia Shield client? As pointed out for YEARS this is a fundamental piece of info that is sorely lacking on the Shield. That may be the only thing I don’t like when I switched from the Roku to the Shield. Again, all we want to know is – when is it going to be addressed? Plex - please acknowledge.
I agree with everyone else… I don’t get why the metadata isn’t pulled into the Shield client, it pulled all of the data when I used the app on my Samsung TV which has had it for years. I only switched to a Shield because the TV was slow with apps, and streaming 4K. The Shield is lightening quick but doesn’t pull in metadata for Plex…I thought that Shield and Plex had a special partnership which is why they advertised on the box that you can use it as a Plex server. I would think the Shield app would get priority attention from the devs and get all of the best features especially the MAJOR ones. We pay for trailers with the Plex pass and they can get that working on the Shield, why not give us all the metadata that the other clients can pull???
I guess it’s good that you mention that now - it took 2 years to make it happen in the Roku App. They were not only below the Reviews - but below every single ‘Suggestion Hub’.
It was NOT nice, I can vouch for that. In fact, now that I think of it - certain ways to get to where you can see actors - are still below everything in the Roku App. I haven’t mentioned it fearing another 2 year regression.
If the actors are at the bottom under every single thing…
they can keep it.
I remember viewing actors on the Roku was 7 to 10 clicks just to get to them. Not bad when you consider the 31 to drill for Westerns, but… yea… let’s not do that.
because is being done if you read why i closed the feature request and my recent previous reply here. I am happy to tell the android devs to stop working on it and/or set a feature flag so only your account doesn’t get it if you just want to continue to make similar statements.
