My wife started to use Plexamp, but has discovered that scrobbling to last.fm doesn’t work on her account. She has linked her account (and tried re-linking several times), but nothing gets scrobbled.
Is there a problem with users that are not the server owner, but part of the same home?
Hmm, there shouldn’t be; it’s possible that she needs to have a full account and not a managed account? But scrobbling is done via server and cloud 
She has a full account for herself. I find it odd that it just doesn’t want to work.
Well, you could start by posting Plex Media Server logs after she plays a track and we could see if the server is reporting scrobbling it to the cloud. There are a lot of moving parts here…

Just updating in case anyone else stumbles upon this problem and figures out why it’s happening, or can provide Elan with new information.
Elan looked at the logs and has confirmed a 401 error.

This is the same problem described in a couple of other posts previously. Here and here, to give as few examples.
Unfortunately Elan hasn’t been able to figure out why it’s happening. There’s something going on with shared libraries, but it’s not happening to everyone. We also tried to eliminate PlexPass as the reason. It makes no difference whether it’s a PlexPass acount or not, when this error is happening. The error has been around a while, and there’s no obvious reason explaining why.
Hopefully someone else can help figure out what’s going on in the future. It’s annoying, but currently we’re stuck at a dead end.
Things I’m not sure you tried:
You could try Multi-Scrobbler - it’s a self-hosted scrobbler that can scrobble multiple users and has loads of other options too.
Has anything changed with this? One of my users can’t scrobble to Last.fm despite being linked properly. We’ve tried unlinking and relinking, making a new Last.fm account and linking that, restarting the Plex server, everything. Her track plays used to scrobble, but around August 2025 they stopped working. In the logs I see MyPlex: Scobbled with result 401 for all of her plays.
