This thread on Reddit reminded me that Plex still hasn’t received a proper update for Xbox One for quite some time, and is beginning to lack in certain features compared to other platforms (being able to automatically continue to next episode, folder view, etc).
As Windows Phone and Windows 10 both have a UWP app with a much nicer UI, I was wondering if there is a planned timeframe for the UWP version to be ported over to Xbox One? Scrolling and overall navigation is currently quite clunky.
Although no one in my house has ever found a problem with Plz on are XO’s I do like the idea of moving it to the UWP platform , it should be a few clicks just to update and move it to XO so no need to worry about a code rewrite, so how about it Dev’s I pay for the Plex Pass how about show me my moneys not going to waste?
It seems like it has to be coming, and the sooner the better. The current client is so far behind in features and so rarely updated that I choose to be optimistic that development has shifted to the UWP version.

Maybe the Team cancels the UWP-Client and concentrate on Plex for Kodi which will get a release soon

There wasn’t an Update for Plex for Xbox in the Last months.
Plex for Kodi is in development and looks realy good and promissing.
Kodi will release it’s UWP-App on Xbox One in the near Future.

yes it hasnt had an update recently most likely due to an xbox uwp in development
yes it looks promising no arguement there
however i highly doubt because kodi MIGHT release a uwp and i highly doubt they will becuase they havnt even tried making a normal uwp mobile/windows app all this time before uwp existed would result them to fully drop xbox app in general plus i doubt u can even find any info proving there releasing a uwp in the near future for kodi in the first place
honestly kodi isnt available on many device types i can only think of a few windows andriod and so on plus there was never an actual windows official uwp kodi app between mobile and windows pc. for crying out loud roku doesnt even have kodi yet and its been out far longer then the onee and has tons more apps so id be shocked to see a kodi app going uwp eyt alone them to drop the xbox app due to that

notice the app in the store doesnt work universal with mobile yet as i already stated plus that article has no source of kodi saying they would so i still doubt it even if they do theres no reason that means they would drop the xbox app lol i get u like kodi and ur such a fanboy of it but that still is unreleated to the development of the xbox app and now that i look the announcement was 5 days ago thats even more of a reason to say they wouldnt drop it due to the xbox update hasnt been out for over a couple months do u really think they would decide to drop it now of all times when in the past 5 days they claim kodi is coming to uwp such a reason to drop xbox app is nonsense
So what would the benefit be of Plex for Kodi? The Plex apps I use (UWP and XB1) all work 95% for me. If Kodi would make it to the XB1 and UWP with Plex support why would we replace it with Kodi?
Plex for kodi will never be a replacement app for plex. They try to get plex into as many hands as possible. The reason that plex for kodi exists is to cater to the people who never left kodi, but like plex media server. It will never replace PMP. Same with plex for Xbox or later on the universal plex. There may “one day” be plex for kodi on Xbox, but it will never replace an actual plex client.
I’m mostly hoping they fix the extremely annoying issue with Xbox One where enabling subtitles cause the video to pause frequently. This does not happen when I use the native video player instead of the Plex app.

Enabling subtitles causes your server to transcode the video as native subtitle support has not been enabled for the Plex app. The frequent pauses mean that your server cannot keep up with transcoding the video to burn in those subtitles.

To add to this, before the Devs forgot this forum existed (long ago), they advised they were working on native subtitle support for the app. I wouldn’t advise holding your breath
