Will Plex support 8K Direct Play on Android Devices?

Hi,

will Plex support (in Future) 8K Direct Play of MKV, MP4 Files (H264,H265) on Android Devices ?

At the moment it plays 8K, but it transcodes it down to 4K Video with very high CPU load.

and what display device is the shield pro connect to that supports 8k playback?

hint - the shield doesn’t support 8k playback, so even if you have an 8k tv/projector you ain’t gonna get 8k playback from it.

plex is correctly transcoding to 4k as the playback device doesn’t support the native resolution of the 8k file you are trying to play.

If i have a Android TV with 8K support, can plex generally play 8k in direct play (if the player fits)?

At the moment i have a Nvidia Shield Pro but possibly i buy a 8K Android TV.

And what 8k tv/projector are you connecting this theoretical Android TV device to?
