Will spatial Audio be compatible one day with the new Player on Apple TV?

This issue was also raised in this post about 13 months ago and I don’t believe I’ve heard any response from any Plex representative. I’d love to be proved wrong! I know Plex will continue to get my hard-earned £ while I use it as a back-end, but the player has to be important to Plex too, doesn’t it? And not just on Apple TV. Please drop us a note Plex!

it would be cool to have an update about this , cos since while now i just use Infuse ,so i think they will loose some of people who loved them and support them since they existed. i really hope we will get any new near Christmas.

It’s a shame Plex employees just ignore this.
I use the Plex app to browse but playback goes through Infuse because of missing spatial audio.

Come on Plex employees, we’ve paid our fees, at least respond with an expectation/status or update.

Sadly you won’t get an official response. There are several threads on this issue and Plex has zero interest in even replying.

Just checking back in for the plex team.

Any update?

yeah I think they do not care at all , it’s sad cos it’s preventing us to use the new player which is more efficient, Spatial audio properly works only with the older player in options … can’t guess why that is … unfortunately I switched totally to Infuse , you pay 9,99 per year and it’s a solid deal, + your machine doesn’t do so much effort to decode videos .
this should be a priority cos most Apple customers uses AirPods Pro and are fan of Spatial Audio … I think maybe we will see this implemented but not in the near future as they seems deaf to our questions…

I ended up signing up for Infuse as well for that same reason. Turns out it does a few things better than Plex, so I now bounce back and forth.

I have an older PC (that used to be very good, so its still descent) that struggles to playback 4K files on my Apple TV on the same network when I use Plex, but Infuse does it flawlessly. I think I’ll upgrade to annual on Infuse - as I’ve been going month to month hoping Plex would add the feature or at least comment, but clearly they are avoiding the question.

I mean not even that is completely true.
The difference in the spatial audio experience for movies with HD-Audio in Plex and Infuse is vast.
For AC3 stuff it’s fine in both.

As for the “can’t guess why that is”… It’s simply because nobody up to recently has cared about implementing it in MPV player (New Player).

Hopefully that changes.

We need this implemented.

Come on we need this. It’s a massive difference.

It’s clearly not a priority for Plex. Just pay for Infuse like a lot of us now do. Maybe you don’t need the Plex Pass and can use that money?

i kinda regret that I bought Plex pass , just to support the dev few years ago at full price , cos most of the improvements are available to free users too .
yeah , I can confirm that Infuse is better for spatial audio and the fact that it seems that there is no transcoding, cos I never see the CPU or GPU on my NAS usage as high as PLEX is using…
so weird …
but I really think they do not care about it , or it’s not at all one of their priorities, I wonder what is ?? cos I guess there is a lot of Apple users who use Plex … I totally lost hope personally .

I agree. It’s kinda sad that they don’t even comment on this. That’s my one frustration with the Plex
Pass lifetime- there is no way to inquire with customer service on anything. Maybe I’ll note that on the Apple Store reviews.

good idea, I will decrease my 5 five ratings and explain what the Plex pass usage are for , and the lack of spatial audio that Infuse does. ( even if Infuse have to improve their library layout options.

I reduced it to one star - making it 2 or 3 doesn’t do much to get noticed.

I now also pay for infuse monthly so my utility for the Plex lifetime that I paid for has evaporated. All they would need to do in order to make me more satisfied is have a way to contact support.
