Will the new Raspberry Pi 5 (available Oct `23) be able to Hardware Transcode?

I am also interested in knowing about this. I am considering getting a Raspberry Pi 5 but I want to make sure 4k support is smooth

No idea on this.
We’ve been spending time / effort on the bigger hitting issues like hardware subtitle burning and major transcoding bug fixes (APL & GLK)
If this will be done, it’ll have to be scheduled as new development and only if FFMPEG has the HW support.
Maybe by Pi7 then

There is nor has there been ANY commitment for ANY Raspberry HW transcoding support.
In the previous posts, we were joking.
