will there be a channel list in Plex DVR ?

Hi,

in Live TV I´d like to be able to switch to a channel directly to watch it. Is this already there and I did not find it or is it planned for the future ?

thx

are you watching IOS or Android TV? Plex isnt channel directed as it is content directed. in Android swipe down it shows you everything that is currently on and you an switch directly to it by clicking it. IN IOS if I remember correctly it is the little menu on the bottom left. So no direct channel but plex is content based not content provider based. I will add it is a little different thought but once I got used to it I like it better. I only cared about channel to find the show I wanted, now you just look for the show.

No, it is not currently there.
It maybe planned but Plex gives neither timelines or road maps for future development.
How would you like to switch? Enter a channel number? A grid?

I think I read somewhere in the forums that they can’t do it for legal reasons. So I’m guessing it is not going to be added soon if at all.

Can’t do what? A program guide? Maybe, Channels on ATV 4 does one though. Not sure if they pay for it or not.
But there can be other ways to do things like that, although I like the current setup.

There is a channel list in the latest version of Plex Version 1.7.3.3937 and some earlier versions. Its complete with guide data for all the shows currently on.

To get to the channels list:

Start watching a Live TV show on your Plex DVR supported device (such as an iOS device for example)

Goto Program guide
choose a show currently on from the guide
once live TV is actually playing click on the menu icon

you will then see a channel list pop-up of all the channels with guide listings for what is currently on for all channels. If you select a channel from the list it will prompt a change to that channel so you can view it live. Unfortunately the channel list always starts with the lowest channel. So for example, if you are currently watching channel 366 and want to navigate to channel 367 invoking the channel list will start you off at channel 1 (or something similar). You would then have to scroll all the way from channel 1 to channel 367 even though you are currently watching a channel that is only one channel removed from where you want to.

It would be better to have the channel list open starting with the channel that you are currently on rather then always defaulting to the lowest channel number.

Anyway,…

This would be like a full guide grid in the traditional sense but it has no horizontal time line just a vertical list component.

If all you want is a list of channels and you’re using the server you can:

Goto program guide
click “Discover” and choose “shows” from the drop-down list
Then click “All” and choose “By Channel” from the drop-down list

You will then see a complete list of channels. Choosing a channel from the list will show you guide listings for that given channel (seemingly in no particular order)

Some apps / hardware might give you something similar such as the nVidia Shield but I don’t have one or Android TV so I can’t say for sure.

Hey, thanks @Octavean ! Learned something new today. I appreciate it.

No problem happy to help

Hi,
thanks a lot for all your replies.
Especially the solution described by Octavean is exactly what I was looking for although I have some doubts that it will work on my Nvidia Shield TV as I do not have seen any menu icon…anyway I will check tonight, maybe it is there and I payed no attention yet.

thanks again
