Windows 10 Installation failure

Server Version#: 2.22.1.917-2a5a2e01-windows-x64 (installation file name)
Player Version#: 3.71.1

See topic above. First use of this forum… lol

Down load of installer app, normal.

Installation appears normal. No error messages.

However, I continue to receive the message, “Looking for servers”

“A server can not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, and it will appear here.”

Taskmanger shows the server running; PlexMediaPlayer, PMPHelper, QT Qtwebengineprocess.

The server does not respond to an attempt to run the web app locally. ie. “not found”

I have disabled the firewall at my router. The MTU size at the router and the PC running the Plex are both set at 1500. UPnP enabled at the router.

Have “un-installed” the software per instructions from the forum and reinstalled. Same result.

Have installed Silverlight and Flashplayer with Chromium extensions.

Thoughts? I will attach log files.

PLEX A1.zip (25.3 KB)

That version is for Plex Media Player not Plex Media Server.

Are you sure you installed the server?

You should see “Plex Media Server.exe” in your task manager if PMS is infact installed and running.

This is the Plex Media Player, not the server.

Uninstall them as fast as you can. They are not needed and you should get rid of them because they represent a danger to your computer security.

Download and install the Plex Media Server, then the Plex Media Player will become usable.

Some time you just can’t see the forest for the trees…

Not quite sure how I downloaded the “player” first. Yet all seemed to work fine after downloading the “server” and running it.

Had watched several Youtube “install” videos and still missed a step somewhere, somehow…

Thanks for the catch…

Thanks for the quick reply. You and NewPlaza picked up my “bad”.

I had wondered about Silverlight and Flashplayer, for the reasons you mentioned.

However out of frustration and a vague memory that they might be required, I added them into the mix. Will remove them first thing.

Thanks for your help!
