Will plex support Windows 10 Enterprise & IOT after 2025
Does Plex offer a Extended Support Release (ESR) version ?
Plex is aimed at home users. In fact, its license is banning commercial use.
Because of that, there is neither an ESR version, nor can you expect platforms to remain supported for very long which are no longer available to non-corporate users.
And I surmise that LTSC versions are not obtainable by home users. And even if they were, they are priced in a way that not many home users are willing to pay that.
Thanks for the info, indeed its expensive up front but well worth it when you have many endpoints that have basic singular functions and need to remain stable. Just to be clear to all reading this you don’t have to be commercial to buy ESR or LTSC versions and because you use them doesn’t make you commercial. Keys are publicly available to purchase with very little effort. IOT is a little harder and the cost is a little more upfront but if you are using more than 4-5 terminals or endpoints its not that much more than just purchasing windows(bloated) versions. My Plex server is used on my home network and has nothing to do with commercial use as my network couldn’t even handle that.
I would give Windows Server a try rather than the LTSC versions. Longer update time frame.
Been a while since Ive messed around with MS server but ya, maybe that’s an idea. Looking at the cost, its really isn’t too bad. Heck even looking at what I paid per seat for my LTSC 10 & 11 that’s not bad either considering. I picked up windows server 2022 OEM key tonight for 30.00 at cjs-cdkeys. Plex, Jellyfin have been projects for me, both have their pros and cons. For those of you that need to stay on windows 10 for a few more years, the enterprise LTSC OEM keys are still available and will continue to receive security updates until 2027 here cjs-cdkeys You don’t need to be commercial to buy or go through one of Microsoft approved resellers like I did.
