Server Version#:Windows Plex Media Server v1.21.3.4015
Player Version#: Android Sony TV Client 8.11.0.22186
Hi there, would You please be so kind and help… I had a configuration working fine for the last 3 Years, but, by Yesterday, my Sony Android client can not connect to my Windows Plex server any more through curent wired connection :(… I am including the server log, pls, help… I can only see in the logs:
“Feb 08, 2021 14:23:07.205 [7328] VERBOSE - NetworkService: Ignoring packet from non-private address: 169.254.237.32”
that is the IP address of my TV :(, so it is not a networking issue, hm, I guess :(… also, server has two network cards, one is used to connect to my ISP provider router, and another is used to connect Plex server and my TV… that connctionon does not work any more, beginning Yesterday :(…
Looks like you’ve segmented your home network in different subnets. Plex only supports local playback within your local network – Plex has no means to determine that another private network IP address is part of your home network.
Unless you specifically need the separation of your home network… take a look at your active components. Usually this means you’ve got a rogue switch/router/access point that’s opening its own subnet instead of expanding your “main” home network.
Switching the components into bridge mode / disabling DHCP servers except for that on the main router should resolve this issue.
If you don’t want to go down that road or need the separate subnet… as a Plex Pass member you can configure Plex to recognize both subnets to be part of your home network: See:Settings > [Server Name] > Network > LAN Networks
Dear Sir,
thank You very much for Your quick reply. Yes, You are right - I separated these two subnets, in order to make life easier for my ISP’s router, save its wi-fi bandwidth and move it to second (wired) subnet when using local Android Tv Plex client… it all worked fine, till Yesterday :(… in this I will then try to use the setting under networking on my Plex server, and input this line under LAN Netwroks setting: 169.254.237.32;192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0
I hope this would then work? Thank You so much for Your help and understading…
After entering “169.254.237.32” under LAN Networks setting, and making a PMS restart, I am still having the same problem - and still getting the same error: “VERBOSE - NetworkService: Ignoring packet from non-private address: 169.254.237.32””… this Android TV is behind one simple dumm switch, and only have a server and a TV connected to it… both with fixed IP addresses :(…
I wonder what has changed, as it worked fine for the last 3 or 4 years :(… changes in PMS with the new update?
