I’ve had my Linux Plex Server running with the Plex Client on my Sony Android TV (KD-49X8305C). It’s a local network setup without sign-in which was working nicely. However, I recently got a firmware update on the TV (Android 7.0) and now the Plex Client does not find my server on the home work.
I also just updated the server to 1.15.1.791 and the Plex Client app on the Android TV 7.12.2…9471.
Under Network settings of the server I have Listed the IP addresses that are allowed without auth:
192.168.2.0/24
The Server is working with the web client in a browser and the mobile app also finds my server but not the Android TV app.
I have solved my issue. It would seem that after the update Android TV OS update it added some unexpected behaviour into the networking functionality. Although, the TV had a wired connection to the router and was connected to the internet and was able to connect to streaming services successfully it could not connect to my new local samba/cifs network shares. The solution was to enable and disable the wifi connection which I would assume had the effect of re-initialising the networking functionality and discovery. My local Plex server is found by my TV.
