Windows Server can't access media on NAS

Server Version#: 1.20.0.3181-0800642ec
Player Version#: all

Hey all

I’ve got all my media on a Synology NAS but I want to run the server on my i7 windows box. The media folder on my NAS is shared and is mapped as the D drive on my windows box. Plex found all the media when I created the libraries, but now all the media shows as unavailable in all players and even in the server control when launched on the windows box itself.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

It sounds like a permission issue…
What Windows version, 7,8,server, etc?
Can you still navigate to the NAS folders and access the files from Windows Explorer? Will they open/play within Windows Explorer?

Are you running the server as a Windows system service?
If so, you cannot use drive letters, because the login script which applies the letters to network shares doesn’t run for a service. You’ll need to convert to UNC paths.
