WinTV-dualHD Raspberry Pi 3

I have installed Raspbian (Jessie) on a Raspberry Pi 3 and sucessfully installed Plex 1.7 onto the Pi which is working perfectly.

I am interested in trying out the new DVR functionality on my Pi so I purchased a Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD USB card. I have connected the TV Tuner to a Windows 10 laptop and I can get channels working and it works with the Windows Plex server also.

But I havn’t been able to get the card to work at all on the Pi. I did try installing OSMC and couldnt get the TV Card to work with that either. On the official Hauppauge site none of the guides didn’t seem to help. Has anyone managed to get this to work?

Can I second a motion in here. I have the EXACT same configuration, past attempts and current dilemma. I can see the dualHD as “Bus 001 Device 004: ID 2040:026d Hauppauge” when I do an lsusb command but Plex can’t find it.

Don’t know if this will help any but… tried following the instructions by Hauppauge at:
http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/linux.html
and got the following error with the:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:b-rad/kernel+mediatree+hauppauge command:
NoDistroTemplateException: Error: could not find a distribution template for Raspbian/jessie

Is this telling me Hauppauge is not supporting Pi/Raspbian?

Got an email today from Hauppauge tech support regarding this. Well, I guess this problem is solved.

Hello,

DualHD is not supported on a Raspberry Pi.

Thank you for the feedback dickcollier, thats is unfortunate probably should have checked the compatibility before i purchased the unit. I’ll have to come up with some other way of setting up the TV source.

Thanks again

I have reboxed and returned the Hauppauge to Amazon with the comment of “not supported under the platform advertised as supported”… got the refund acknowledgement this morning and ordered a Home Run 2 tuner box.

Don’t see anywhere on there where it says it’s supported on a Raspberry Pi

You won’t see anywhere on there where is says it’s supported on HP windows vs not on DELL windows machine.
Ubuntu Linux = Debian, Raspbian Linux = Debian. usb port = usb port.
How silly of me! I bought a HomeRun and everything is working now.

I got the Raspberry Pi and WinTV-dualHD just for this project. Sooooo much to learn. Should I be getting Ubuntu and starting over for the Pi?
