Would I benefit from hardware transcoding (SiliconDust / HomeRun extend using Plex over the internet

I am considering which SiliconDust HomeRun model to buy. My application is to use my plex server from a second home to receive over the air tv. Is the transcoding feature that comes with the Extend model worth the price or can I use the Connect Duo or Quatro models in this application? Also Do I need to subscribe to the HDHomeRun DVR software to use SiliconDust devices with Plex?

I’m going through the same process and would love to know the answers to those same questions. I’d also like to know if Plex is able to recognize all 4 tuners in the quatro version. Can Plex record/watch 4 simultaneous and different streams at the same time with quatro?

I personally don’t think the extend is worth the extra money, I have the Quatro, you do not need to subscribe to silicone dust, you just need the free software to set everything up. Yes Plex can see all 4 tuners and use them.
