See attached pic. On some of the UK’s Standard Definition channels Plex plays them with the wrong aspect ratio and squashes them up. It only happens on the shield all other clients are OK.
this is a really old bug i think i reported 1-2 years ago now
its any android device not just the shield, including mobile.
although i deleted livetv from plex i think it might be fixed in the new player
Hopefully they have fixed it with the new player. At the moment in the beta they haven’t turned on the new player for livetv.
Yeah just to comment, its a bit of an old player bug which we are now phasing out to move to our new player. Support for Live TV in the new player is ongoing so should be available over the next couple of releases

This is driving me nuts I’ve hd channels that play in 4:3 format making them unwatchable , is there a fix on the way?

Any progress on this issue? For me on my Sony Bravia XBR-65X900F the primary channels are displaying correctly. Even the primary SD channels - images become vertical squeezed only on subchannels. An example screen shot is attached.
I neglected to mention that I am using HD Homerun Extend. I just went into the Live & DVR settings > Device Settings and changed Transcoder Quality from Highest Quality to Original Format, and that solved the aspect ratio problem. Apparently there is something in the translation of the original format data for the subchannels that is causing the transcoder to misinterpret the correct aspect ratio.
Soon you’ll probably notice some 4:3 exploded to 16:9.
Apparently Supervisory staff consider Sub-Channels like Driver Training.
Delighted to say that the newest update has fixed this problem.
Problems still there but now on content that changes aspect ratio. For example I was watching ITV2 and an old Family Guy. The content was 16:9 for the adverts but as soon as the 4:3 old Family Guy episode comes on its stretched. If you change channel and go back the content appears correctly. However when the adverts come on the adverts are then squeezed into 4:3!
