I'm using latest MPS installed on a Synology nas and the latest Plex client on a Samsung smarttv but on some movies the aspect ratio is still wrong. MPS correctly recognize apect ratio as 2.35:1 but on screen it not displayed with this AR.
For example... the video with the metadata in attachment have a frame size of 720x432 pixels with 2.35:1 aspect ratio, it's anamorphic.
The display frame size should become, al least, 1015x432 pixels to be viewed with not deformed images and then upscaled accordingly with TV resolution. Instead on a 1080p Samsung SmartTV, it is upscaled full screen. It should contain horizontal black bars to not be deformed.
There's a bug somewhere. On standard players like Quicktime, VLC and the ATV player aspect ratio is set correctly.
You adopt an unusual algorytm to adapt anamorphic videos aspect ratio. In this way, reducing vertical lines, you loose information (resolution). Horizontal width should upscaled instead.
