I recently purchased a Sony 4K Android tv and i watched ripped movies on it…but the player app on the tv show the wrong aspect ratio…strectching the image vertically…making every thing look distorted…i have tried the settings on the tv to try and correct this…but nothing helps…somewhere i read that this has to do with the movies being in Anamorphic format.
Is there any other way to fix this?..any software that can do this?..because the tv settings dont help.
I am actually having similar problem. I have ripped movies. I have the Samsung UE55KS800 model. When I play via Plex, the video is stretched vertically hence wrong aspect where as I expected a letter box view. I have also used the DS Video application on my Synology server with same movies. This application shows the movies correctly with a letterbox. No vertical stretching. So, it does not seem to be a TV issue. Is there a know Plex issue or do the movies need to be ripped differently?
Many videos from ‘unknown’ sources are encoded by folks that don’t really have a clue what they’re doing. Anamporphic settings within Handbrake/Other are confusing (to say the least) if you don’t know what you’re doing and it is quite possible to get these screwed up in a manner that would completely confuse your TV or playback device.
