Wrong Metadata on Series (TV-Show Series)

Thank you very much @OttoKerner
I’m on it to edit the data on imdb and tmdb but will take 2-3 days till changes will be approved

@SwiftPanda16

How did you read out that data what you mentioned in your post earlier? i would like to check other series too if there are false entrys on plexs backend

I wrote a userscript that allows your to view the XML details of any media by opening up the media page, either on your server or through Discover, and pressing CTRL+I.

Thanks alot

Hi guys & gals, first post here so apologies if in wrong thread or section.

I am having a similar problem with “Beauty & The Beast” (1987) TV show box set that keeps changing the information & linking to “Beauty & The Beast” (2012), even though I keep using “Fix Match” on it to change it back (it does it at random times not on every database update/scan) and also have added the actual year to the filenames of each episode & the folder name as in below

It is only this one TV series that the issue happens with & tbh getting a little annoyed having to keep changing it as the wife gets confused with which show will play as also got the other box set on my server as well - so it then merges the 2 together & even after splitting them up again & fixing the match for the older show, give it a few days and it will revert back.

Other shows which have remakes of older ones using the same name such as The Flash (1990) & The Flash (2014) don’t have the problem even though they are using the exact same naming format including the year in each filename and folder.

I have tried different sources for the information to be pulled from with same results (I use PlexTV as default & using TVDB does the same)

Any help/suggestions/fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Better to make your own post, but we’ll try to work on it here.

Dunno why it keeps unmatching automatically to the wrong show however. I do find that using an ampersand (&) instead of the word (and) can lead to mixups, as some matchers are too literal and won’t match one with another. Meaning, that since the original 1987 show does NOT use an ampersand, perhaps using a title of Beauty and the Beast (1987) for the folder might prevent this issue.

Also, Plex’s naming scheme doesn’t suggest using dots in filenames, and expects the year to be in parenthesis after the name. Either this, or using “&” in the title, might cause Plex to oddly “rematch” these episodes to the more recent show.

Strange behavior, either way. If a filename/foldername change doesn’t prevent this from coming undone again, it doesn’t seem like proper behavior to me.

Thank you for the reply.

I have replaced the Ampersand with the word “and” in the title. Thank the Omnipotent beings for Windows PowerToys PowerRename! All of my other files on my server are separated by periods & year not in parenthesis, and have been fine for past 4 years or so that been running a server here, but will keep that in mind if get any other similar issues in the future.

Hopefully this will resolve the issue (any of the others using ampersands in the name don’t have duplicate seasons or other films of same name, so ‘should’ be ok there still).

Once again thank you for the rapid answer.
