Wrong Metadata on Series (TV-Show Series)

Dear Community,

I have a Problem with a series (tv-show), im getting the wrong meta data for. I have a folder called Series which Plex Series Scanner is assigned to. Only One Series (actually a TV Show from Austria) called MA 2412 TMDB MA2412 Series is getting the wrong metadata, instead of the metadata from the first link mentioned i get this Weber & Breitfuss. I already changed the folder name and it looks like this now: MA 2412 (1998) {tmdb-41608} . Unfortunally it doesnt have any effect on it. I dont want the move the series in an extra tv show’s rubric. Is there any other solution to this? I also tried to manually correct the belonging, but when searching for it it only shows me the wrong metadata, it seems like it cant find the right one

Hopefully someone can help me on this.

Kind Regards
Philipp

I get a match straightaway when I add it, which means you probably just have to
Plex dance <–click

If you want, you can fix match but for the show name just put tmdb-41608 under the Title field

When you get it matched, you have to use the TMDB show order, if you don’t already
The TVDB show order doesn’t have any episode metadata

I did the steps you mentioned but doesnt work for me. But what ive found out is, when i use scanner Plex TV Series with Plex Series Agent i get wrong Metadata, but when i change scanner to Plex Series Scanner and Agent to TMDB it works just fine out of the box. But Problem with the other scanner is that i get prompted all the time that this scanner is outdated and i should switch Plex TV Series Scanner

What exactly did you mean with this?

I thought that i might had to move it in a complete new mediathek with other scanner and agents active. But i want to avoid that if possible. As i mentioned above there ‘‘might’’ be an issue with Plex Series Agent

Kind Regards Philipp

I think I’ve found the reason: someone has linked this wrong “show” Weber & Breitfuß (TV Series 2022- ) — The Movie Database (TMDB) to the IMDb listing of the actual show MA 2412 (TV Mini Series 1998–2022) - Episode list - IMDb

I’ve removed the link, but it may take a while until this has vanished from the Plex database.
Wait a few days, then repeat the Plex Dance.

Ohhhhhh, didnt thought of looking at ImDb, Thank you very much for your help! i will do Plex Dance in a few days and let you know.

Normally, you should not use IMDb for tv shows.
But for some reason, IMDb and the main entry on TMDB MA 2412 (TV Series 1998-2002) — The Movie Database (TMDB)
have Weber & Breitfuß listed as part of their series, whereas
TheTVDB.com and TMDB have also Weber & Breitfuß as their own separate show.
Cases like these are usually bound to cause confusion until all metadata sources have cleaned up their act and either separate them cleanly or remove the duplicate shows.

Thanks for the information on this

Ok so i did Plex Dance a couple times today, seems like there are still metadatas on some sites that give me the wrong information
I already did some changes to the TMDB and the IMDB Entrys, ill give it another try in a couple days

According to Wikidata Entry the given Plex Media Key there should be updated MA2412 Plex Media Key

Can anyone from Plex Team do this?

I don’t know what a media key is.
I don’t think this has anything to do with Plex.

Im not really sure either, can it be that the media key is refering to plex metadatabase?

Where from are you getting the term “media key”?

Plex does not use any data from Wikipedia.

@OttoKerner follow this link Wikidata ‘‘MA 2412’’ and scroll down till you find Plex Media Key - it seems like this is what is stored on plex’s metadata for ‘’ MA 2412’’

Plex has nothing to do with Wikipedia. It is also not Plex’s responsibility to keep other people’s databases up to date.
And since Plex is not using any Wikipedia data, changing anything on there is absolutely inconsequential.

Most likely, Plex itself is pointing to the wrong show in its database, and needs to fix it. My guess is that wikidata (not wikipedia) is a site that links to the show on all the other metadata sites. Since Plex is pointing to the wrong show, the wikidata site shows that.

@OttoKerner Plex show plex://show/5d9c0835ba6eb9001fb9e91b has an incorrect TMDB Guid assigned to it. An employee needs to split the shows in the Plex backend.

<Guid id="imdb://tt0172022"/> <-- correct
<Guid id="tmdb://216620"/> <-- incorrect
<Guid id="tmdb://41608"/> <-- correct
<Guid id="tvdb://83328"/> <-- correct

@SwiftPanda16 & @Divideby0 Thanks for pointing this out!!! I’m having a hard time explaining what i meant :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve forwarded this request.

However, the problem still exists. At this time, each of the metadata sites is handling the new episodes differently. One has it as a new season. One has it as specials. One has it as a completely different show. I’d expect some movement at least at one of these sites, which will likely result in another reshuffling later on.
