X-Box One App: Stuck Buffering When Resuming Video

Server Version#: Version 1.18.4.2082
Player Version#: Latest XBox One App

My main entertainment set-up is through my X-Box One. I have it connected via ethernet to my router, and I also have NAS Synology DS1019+ connected via ethernet to the same router. The X-Box app had been working great until a few updates ago. Now, I can’t get any video to Resume watching. Starting a video from the beginning is fine, but trying to start mid-video gets me stuck on the buffering screen. I’ve experimented with turning Hardware Acceleration on/off as well as adjust the Quality up and down. However this doesn’t fix the issue.

What makes me certain that this is an XBox One app issue is that we have a Roku in another part of the house which is connected via WiFi. The Roku app has no playback issues whatsoever and is doing it all on a WiFi signal whereas the XBox is hardwired in. All things being equal, the XBox should vastly outperform the Roku, however the opposite is true.

Any thoughts or ideas? Would like to keep the XBox is my main Plex tool because I like the layout and interface a little better and it’s what I run everything else on for home entertainment.

Thanks,
Joe

Bumping up here. Any other X-Box One users encounter this problem?

Xbox has SERIOUS issues with buffering when using the Plex app, the issue has been going on for years, Plex says it’s an Xbox issue, Xbox says its a plex issue, the problem will NEVER be resolved. I’ve worked directly with plex and MS devs and neither one are going to fix the problem as they both blame each other.

In the meantime plex will never work correctly on the Xbox

Well that’s dispiriting

I have 5 Xbox one s in the house…all have the issue…I even tried emby…same (everything is hardwired as well). My Rokus did not have this issue. But I came across a workaround…load Kodi for Xbox along with the Plex plugin…Works like a charm…no more buffering at all. The only thing I can guess is since Kodi platform is based on the original Xbox media center it does not suffer from the same issue that Plex and emby do.
Also you can set Plex plugin to auto launch when Kodi starts
