Xbox 360: Not playing remote library

Hi All,

I have an LG TV, various Android devices and desktop Plex players which all connect to and play content from my friends library fine.

My Xbox 360 will connect, and I can browse content. Just nothing plays. I had this case recently with my LG TV, I "fixed " it by configuring the LG TV Plex client to accept insecure connections from anywhere. The Xbox 360 does app does not have this same settings option. My Xbox has no trouble playing from my own local library.

Is this a case of the Xbox 360 app getting too far out of date now, or is there a setting I can ask my friend to set on his Plex server to allow these connections?

Yep, so my friend did tell me he did an upgrade to 1.25.8.5663 a month or so ago. RIP Xbox 360 for Plex it seems.

Plex Media Server 1.18.3.2156 - breaks Xbox 360

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156 Player Version#: Don’t know, can’t see this on my Xbox After updating PMS to version 1.18.3.2156 on my Linux PC, the Plex app on my Xbox 360 no longer plays video. I can open the app, browse my library and select a video to play, but playback does not commence. I get an error message, something like: “Plex cannot communicate with server. Please check that the server is running.” I downgraded back to 1.18.0.1944 and it fixed the problem.

I’m not completely sure which option that your friend should set, but I’m still using the 360 for a remote server and it’s working. I’m sure there’s something… I just don’t know what. Sorry for the late response but Plex doesn’t seem to have much support on the 360
