I have been using Plex on my Xbox 360 for a year now.
Last week in the middle of a series, Plex suddenly said “there was an error communicating with your Plex Media server. Make sure it’s tunred on and accessible and try again”.
There are a whole group of us accessing this server and I am the only one with this issue.
I have deleted, re-downloaded and re-installed Plex several times to my Xbox 360 and I am still getting this error.
I can open Plex and I can see the list of Movies and Series, but the moment I select any of these to view I get the error “there was an error communicating with your Plex Media server. Make sure it’s tunred on and accessible and try again”.
Please can someone assist me here?

Want to add that I am having the exact same issue… I tried re-signing in. Re-installing the app on the 360. Also trying to cast it using my laptop as the controller. Nothing has worked so far.
The Xbox 360 app is deprecated.
I’d recommend a modern roku box or dongle.
Or a shield, if you expect 4K to be important to you in the future.
IMO, stay away from amazon devices.

Same issue. Files play on desktop and iOS, but XBox 360 gives error message as noted in original poster’s message.
The only option at this point is to change the client you are using or revert back to an older version of PMS (not recommended).
The app cannot be updated and has been deprecated for over 2 years now, see here for more information.

Ok the App itself is no longer supported BUT you can still play your Plex library on the 360.
On PLEX you need to enable the DLNA Server. This allows streaming devices to detect PLEX on the network without using the app.
On the 360 you need to find the System Video Player. It under the My Apps section or the Media tab when you hit the home button.
Plex Media server should be listed there. You can play from there. Hope this helps! I know it has been awhile since anyone posted to this but I had the same issue.
Also, just delete the App off of 360 you don’t need it anymore.
