Xbox One Early Access - 5.1 FLAC issues

The biggest thing I use Plex for is playing by 5.1 FLAC music. With the XBox One this works great, but once I updated to Early Access the music no longer played back in 5.1 and instead was in a poorly down mixed stereo. I would certainly not want this new version to come out without support for 5.1 FLAC music.

Not sure whether this helps - and I’m sure you’ve checked this already - but I noticed that some of my settings were not carried over or converted properly when I opted in for the beta, one of them being how the player handles multi-stream audio. I had to go back in to Settings and remove the option to downmix to stereo and also had to remove the Volume Boost setting that I found was downmixing surround to stereo to then boost it (despite having a 5.1 system hooked up).

I’m having the same problem with the new early access version on the xbox one. None of the settings that h0bd0b1in suggested make any difference. I have hundreds of albums in 5.1 wav files that play in 5.1 surround on the current app, but always down convert to stereo on the new early access. Both apps transcode the files to AAC first, but the new early access app transcodes them to stereo.

I hope someone from PLEX actually reads these threads. We cant be the only ones. And if the new app does not play my music files in 5.1 surround, then i have no choice but to leave PLEX.
