Xbox One Live TV Guide Missing?

Any update at all on this? I’m already into a lot of $$ for my Plex/OTA setup and it’s not usable on our primary TV which runs through and Xbox one. Very frustrating that there’s not even a response!

I’ve now got Emby installed on my media server and will probably toss Plex. The only thing that’s better on Plex (that I use) is the auto remove of commercials.

I just don’t understand how there can be such a disconnect across platforms. My phone, Web browser, PC app, Android TV app all look exactly the same…then there’s the Xbox…

Yep, but the link also mentions “We’re working to bring this type of view to more apps in the future.“

Question is when? Unfortunately it’s a blocker for adoption in my household. Still paying $55/month for a streaming service until the grid view is there. Not sure why we cannot get an official response? It’s not like the lifetime plex pass was free!

On the off chance anyone Plex reads these forum posts, I vote for adding the Guide to Xbox. But @donnikhan is entirely correct that the linked article does not list Xbox as one of the platforms with the app.

I will add my vote to this. I extended my sub for a month to keep playing with the Xbox and other features but it truly is a steaming pile. My full OTA program line up doesn’t even appear in the “shows on now”. It’s just a horrible interface. I am coming off the original Xbox as WMC extenders…like 10+ year old technology and that system is far and away better functionally than this by leaps and bounds. Really not interested in paying to be a beta tester. (Actually it’s not even that, at least beta testing garners feedback and responses from the devs.) This place is a black hole for support and feedback. Going to test emby…

I do not understand why this thread even needs to exist. Surely it should be standard. I vote they get it done after i paid for premium

I’m joining the line I guess. I just got my HD Home Run in a household with 4 xboxes and I am not super bummed. The Android TV Interface looks amazing and when I loaded Plex up on the Xbox I did a double take as I really just could not believe such a crappy UI was implemented. I know you guys can do better than that. I would be very happy with just a grid style view.

Thanks for your time,
Tyler

Excellently written Tbigley2011. Thank you.

Can we at least get someone from Plex to tell us to take a hike and they don’t care? Oh I guess the non-response is them telling us off.

A +1 from me as well - the current live TV feature is next to useless in its current form.

So let me get this straight. Android app has a great Live TV guide… but the Xbox One, where I actually watch Live TV from, doesn’t have this feature? You’re really going to make me use the HD Homerun app? Sadly it’s more convenient to see what’s coming up, compared to the Xbox version of Plex. :frowning:

This post has been going since July 2019 and excuse me if I have missed something, but not one reply from support / developers on this subject? I moved away from Plex in January 2020 due to this issue with the guide as this is THE main thing I need for day to day TV watching.

I cannot see how a company expects people to pay for something which is quite useless in its current state.

There has been enough vocal outcry in this post that would warrant some interaction but no, not a whisper. Do they not care for their member base? This is perhaps one of the worst ‘support’ forum I have come across as their appears to be no support to this post. Nada. Zilch.

Quite pathetic.

Ironically, running Plex on two large (ish) TV’s in my household, one through the Xbox One App (48" 19 year old Samsung), and the other through a 49" Samsung The Frame (2019) and neither of them have the guide view, yet my tiny 6" Nokia Android Phone does!

Another year long thread over in the Smart TV forums:

As a paying Plex Pass user I’m very disappointed in where Plex’s priorities lie.

This is a huge issue for those of us that have been using Xbox One as our daily driver for Plex, not having a guide feature makes having a dvr basically useless.

I’m a Plex pass subscriber, so they already have my money… But they are currently offering free live tv/dvr during the pandemic and issues like this will definitely turn people off from subscribing.

No guide?!?! This issue caused a crappy argument with my son. I finally gave up and assumed it wasn’t supported on XBOX One. Searched and found this forum to find my assumption was correct, but I feel like a lousy dad for getting into an argument with my son over the missing feature! And for no reason! Plex owes us all an update and an apology!!

The “Program Guide” article has contradicting information:

The very first thing mentioned is that “the Guide is available in supported Plex apps when you have a DVR set up and program guide data downloaded.” It then shows an image with the menu option for the guide and XBOX One is noted in the list of supported apps.

But, further down in the “Browsing the Guide” section, it is noted that “the Channels/Grid view is available in the current version of” … and XBOX One is not listed?

C’mon Plex! Please deliver an update… and don’t forget about that apology for causing strife in our family households!

LMFAO. The xbox connected to my TV is less useful to record shows than my phone is! Who’d have thought. I’m not upgrading to a plex pass while this is still an issue.

I’ve just realised that I’ve now got a proper guide on my Plex Xbox app…about time…
