Xbox One Live TV Guide Missing?

Server Version#: 1.16.2.1297
Player Version#: 2.36.1.70

I just received this new Xbox Plex client, and I cannot find the interface to live TV channels. On Live TV & DVR, I see two tabs, “Recommended” and “DVR Schedule”. On the Recommended tab, there are subheadings of “On Right Now”, “Starting Soon”, New Episodes Tonight", “Upcoming Movies”, and Manage Hubs. There is no list of channels, no guide, and no grid guide.

On the On Right Now heading, 14 items are shown with titles, today’s date, and time left, but no channel number. Scrolling all the way to the right, and selecting the “More…” item, there is a poster wall display of all live channels, with no channel numbers, and in random order.

This is not very useful. The previous version was actually more usable.

Is this how it’s supposed to work, or is something not enabled, not installed, or broken?

Same here…bumping this question

Also looking for some update here. Xbox one app typically has been super up to date with features. Live TV has gotten worse over the last year. Very often just not tuning something that works perfectly on standalone windows player or iOS app from my testing.

Is there any plan to release the epg functionality on Xbox one. The live tv functionality is currently unusable

Same issue here.
New install of Live TV and DVR feature.
Upgraded to 1.16.6.1554 and configured.
Using “Hauppauge TV Tuner XBOX ONE”
Xbox One app - No Grid option available.

For what it is worth the other platforms tried to use:
Guide is visible in the:
Browser interface, looks and functions as advertised.
FireTV app - looks and functions as advertised.
Android app - Only shows the currently playing show’s poster for each channel when Grid is selected. Not the grid format i expect with the lineup.

Same issue using the HDHomeRun system with digital TV tuner going through window 10 media computer running Plex Pass.

Internet browser, iPhone, Roku, and Vizio TV all work though.

exact same issue as original post. it’s now 4 months later. any update on this? it makes live tv impossibly convoluted.

Same issue… live TV channels are almost useless with this format

Just tried on Iphone + Web Interface and those work as intended

I’m only new to Plex and have also been playing around with Emby. I’m in the testing phase for both out atm.

However I have to say, the way in which Live TV programming is presented via the Xbox on Plex is essentially broken and is imo a very retarded way to go about watching TV programming.

It is without question that you need a guide page with channels down the left and shows by the time period going across the screen, this is standard industry practice. Even WMC has this and it just works in how simple it is to view, record and a record series.

Even Emby has a guide format and whilst a little clunky its winning a few votes with the family right now. We have 5 Xboxs in the house and Live TV is first and foremost the number one thing that must be the shining star in the interface. So far Emby has this edge.

This needs to be fixed immediately.

I concur with this flaw. Basically the Live TV option has no live TV on my Xbox One player. It makes the feature useless. According to this Plex article Xbox One is supported:

So I would consider this a bug.

Server Version v1.18.4.2164
Xbox One Client v2.45.1.70

Live TV works from web browser and iOS app.

Same issue! Just got an OTA antenna working nicely with an HDHomerun, and purchased a plex pass. But no grid view on Xbox One makes this setup a no go in my house. Is the grid view still on the roadmap? Any ETA ?

Hello support,

Could we please have a response to the many enquiries on this thread regarding the no guide on the xbox.

This thread has been opened since July 2019 and my comment was 25 days ago - no reply from support.

This needs addressing asap.

I would have to second your post , it doesn’t make much sense that every other application has a guide . I don’t believe this is a glitch as it appears to have not been coded into the Xbox one application . It needs to be written / fixed . ASAP .

Not to mention I just shelled out for the lifetime pass for the reason of having this setup for my Xbox one .

Second this. I bought my Plex pass a few weeks ago for primary use on my XBOX but it’s absolutely useless without even being able to choose a channel let alone get a guide.

Whoever thought this was a good UI design needs to go back to UI school.

Is there anyway to contact support about this ? Every time I go to contact , technical it just refers to the forum , I’d like to send an email considering this is extremely disappointing . 150 Canadian and no guide or channel list for the application for Xbox one makes absolutely no sense . If support reads these forums daily . Contact me .

Well, sad to say but I am moving onto Emby and have cancelled my Plex subscription. The TV guide there just works for me…its actually a guide… and they have support that actually answer enquiries. Don’t get me wrong, i do like Plex and perferred it.

The rest of the Emby application is acceptable enough for me to use for what i need. I’ll just work through it for now and bug shoot anything there but having a TV guide is a big win in my family of four xboxs.

I wish you all on here good luck but for me, no support from Plex support really says a lot about this company and what they value.

I hear ya , I was really hoping this issue would be correct in due time , but it would appear they are not going to take a closer look , being this thread started many months back and since than various updates have come out . Really a shame as this feature is the reason most people will spend additional funds for the premium plex pass accounts .

Well I just paid for Emby and will probably seek a refund for plex pass. I only bought it a couple of weeks ago. At least it has a guide…

As an example of support at Emby, I replied to a very old thread today about some functionality and within a few hours I had a system architect reply and say they would take a further look at the idea. How’s that eh.

So to me, this speaks volumes to the support methodologies between these two companies.

Urgh Come on Plex. This was working ok for awhile now it’s broken beyond use. I don’t even see all current programs.

If you’re not going to fix it stop advertising that Xbox is a supported platform for Live TV.

iOS version is working pretty well but I don’t want to have to shell out for another AppleTV…
