For the most part it should, but there is more to it then just the container and video codec.
Currently, Subtitles all need to be burned in which will require a video transcode and HD Audio/DTS are not supported which will require an audio transcode.
So while it is possible for a full bluray MKV and DVD to play, it does depend on the audio codecs, subtitles, and other settings that you may have enabled.
So i would have down mix the audio for some Blu ray, awesome thank you.
As long as the video is not VC-1 (Which I have seen in a number of blurays) the app will request an audio transcode automatically which should be relatively easy for the server as it will simply copy the video stream. So for me personally, I leave those audio as the HD audio formats.
However, with VC-1 it will try and convert the audio as well and since VC-1 is single threaded only it makes a huge impact on streaming. For my use I will remux in a 2nd audio track that is AC3 5.1 so I can select that without needing to transcode.
