I’m getting the following error trying to play several videos streaming from my Win 10 Computer running Plex Server 0.9.12.6.1347-54c2e56 with video content local to the computer. Streaming to XBox One. I’ve attached the screenshot of the error on the XBox as well as one of the problematic video’s media info as reported by plex via the webapp. BTW streaming in the webapp works fine, as does playing the video in VLC on the Windows box.
This only happens to some MKV/H264 files while others play fine on the XBone they all play fine on the web player ).
Hmmm… Seems it works if I disabled Direct Stream and the other Direct option( forgot the name ). Not the most elegant solution as I’d rather not transcode, but it works now so I’m mostly happy.
I made a copy using the PlexNewTranscoder.exe on the windows server, however the video plays the copied copy with direct play/streaming enabled. I’m wondering if it is the size of the file, although it’s only 2.4 gigs and I’ve played larger files just fine.
Is there something in the Transcoded output file that would be changed Vs. the original that would allow streaming? Any other way to get you a file or should I upload the complete 2.5 gig file somewhere that you can access?
Same issue here as well. Like I posted on another thread. I changed the Quality option on the XBOX app from "“Original” to the next option under it and the MKV plays perfect. Try that out and see if it works. It still shows that it is in direct play on the activity page.
I just came across two files with exactly the same problem. I have never had a problem playing a single file on my Xbox One. If i disable Direct Play and Direct Stream it plays since its being transcoded =/ Not ideal since I don’t have to do this for any other files.
Small update I removed the files from my library, rebooted server and app, and moved the files to a different hdd. I then turned Direct Play and Direct Stream back on and now they work perfectly. So strange! I literally changed nothing else.
So weird, wonder what’s going on here. Thanks for chiming in guys, hopefully the peeps at Plex will take a look and create a fix. Really don’t want to have to move, restart, move etc… to get around it, I have a lot of files and would have to go through all of them to figure out the problematic ones.
