I have a MKV file that will play on everything but the xbox one.
here is the media info for it.
From what you have posted that file should direct play.
Do you have a log from when you attempt to play this file?
thats what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. And here is the last couple minutes of my log file. I tried it around 22-23 i think. hastebin.com/opolacucah.vhdl
Jan 31, 2016 21:23:59 [0x2b1cd8600700] ERROR - Error writing media: 32 - Broken pipe
this error is the closest error in the timeline to when I tried playing the file. Also if I leave it sit for over a minute it start to play just the audio of the file.
Oh and the file won’t play even when it transcodes it to the xbox.
That error simply means that the Xbox shut down the connection to the server so the server was unable to send the stream to it. If I am reading the log correctly the file is trying to direct play the entire time as no transcoder call is being made.
Normally, when this happens either the Xbox looses connection to the server which looks like it killed the stream or the Xbox doesn’t like the file it’s being sent and kills the stream. A sample may help the developers try and figure out what is causing the issue, but since it isn’t working direct playing and you say transcoding doesn’t help there isn’t much that can be done as those are the only two options (Use the original stream or reencode it) and neither is working.
@xxredxpandaxx You could try remuxing the file using software like mkvtoolnix to check if the file or container is somehow corrupt. Otherwise please feel free to create a sample file that reproduces the same issue and PM me the link.
