My plex server is on a different subnet… (10.0.0.1/24) could that be why it sees it as WAN?

Moved my Xbox to my CORE Lan, that also hosts my Plex.

Same behavior:

When resume, first try NO HDR, minimal buffer and TERRIBLE quality
Back out
Retry Resume
HDR Enabled
Buffer Loop

If it would help, maybe you can pass along that I can provide the devs private links to the video files I am using so they can analyze them

Right now, I have a mix of HVEC 4K 10-Bit HDR video files with various audio configurations so basically I can provide files that work flawlessly like Avengers 2012 and those that don’t and maybe the devs can pore into the metadata and determine what is causing the issues.

Based off of the FFMPEG info of Infinity War vs The Avengers, I see no reason why one works and the other doesn’t besides the aspect ratio it was shot in; 1.78:1 vs infinity wars 1.9:1

Seems to work ok - app is universal but little efforst has been made to make the interface for Xbox. Playing 4k file via DLNA works but does not play in HDR.

If I’m reading these posts correctly, it seems MS has to grant pass-through ability to third-party apps? If that’s the case, maybe we could petition MS for this feature? I know that probably won’t do any good, but damn I’m frustrated at this. MS is always screwing up the most basic stuff. I have a Shield as well as an Xbox One X, and the Shield mops the floor with the Xbox as a media device. It works fine on my Shield of course, but transcoded junk from the Xbox. Is there any hope of this ever getting implemented on an Xbox One?

I’ve been looking for a way to contact microsoft on this as well. This is the only thing keeping me from moving to plex 100%, but since I need a 2nd device to do the movie playback, I’ve been keeping my mediaportal environment running. I’m really looking forward to getting this feature and being able to decommission everything but plex and emby.

I don’t see Sony/PlayStation having this issue, should’ve listened to all my friends and get a PS4, soon to be PS5, what is Microsoft waiting until Next-Gen to truly support 3rd party 4K?

I don’t think the Plex team cares one bit, they are too busy adding features for a small subset of users instead of polishing up the core functionality.

PS4 is no better, if you want a good plex experience, nvidia shield is the best right now.

It’s not you or anything that you are doing. Plex is broken. I can’t get it to play 4K HEVC content that’s over 40Mbps with any reliability on any client. And Xbox One X, the $500 powerhouse machine? Hahaha. Forget about it. Plex is trash for Xbox.

Plex has lost touch with their user base and reality. They’re suffering from the type of ■■■■ that happens at most startups, and they better get it under control soon. I’ve quietly and patiently put up with garbage 4k support for over a year now, and I’m sick of this trash. I wouldn’t recommend Plex to my neighbors dog.

Anyone remember Boxee? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Wake up, Plex.

Sounds pretty promissing. I look forward to test it out as soon as I can get my hands on the new release. So could we expect to get these changes with the next major win 10 / xbox release in April this year? What are your expirences with the new beta release?

So this fix did not appear to work. 4k HDR AC3 5.1 files still plays fine but I tried a 4k HDR TrueHD 7.1 file and it was buffering every 10 seconds or so and in between buffering audio was cutting out.

I’m on the alpha ring on Xbox One X and Beta rin on the Plex server.

So it’s not buffering at exactly 3 mins anymore it’s buffering every 10-15 second with audio dropouts in between
