My PCs, iPad and iPhone all advertise as remote players. Whatever I try on both of the xboxes in my house neither is recognised as remote player. How to get Plex on the Xbox One to be a remote player?! Until this is sorted users cannot use Alexa to control Plex On Xbox one so what to do?
The XBox One app should work as a remote player and work with Alexa. If your XBox(s) do not show up, it may be a network issue on your end. Please double check and make sure you don’t have DNS rebinding or that your XBox(s) are on the same subnet.
Hi, network is all fine (I’m a network engineer!). I’ve run cat6 around my house. All devices on LAN are Gbit and have full connectivity. The issue is with the Xbox. I don’t use Plex on PCs but set it up on a laptop to test and this feature works fine. When can we have a fix?
Do the XBoxes show up as castable targets from PlexWeb?
Restart PMS and the Plex app on your XBox. From the XBox app, turn on logging (https://support.plex.tv/articles/206239048-xbox-one-logs/) and play a movie for 1 minute. Then use Alexa and try to set one of your XBox as the default player (https://support.plex.tv/articles/236324808-alexa-voice-commands/).
Get me the PMS logs.
The Plex player has to be signed in as the main account. Bummer as I only use this account fir admin
