Xbox series S doe not directplay any 4K content

Ther plex app on the Xbox does not want to directplay any of my 4K files. I have everything but video transcoding checked off on the server, so TrueDTS and the like should not be posing any problems. The 4K files are quite “ordinary” MKV containers, hevc and so on. They play nicely on the android TV Plex client, but I would rather use the Xbox for watching movies.

Is There som steps I can take to troubleshoot or should I just get rid of the damn thing and get the latest Apple TV? :slight_smile:

What does the PMS dashboard show when you are playing back content on the Xbox then?

Direct Streaming, Transcoding ?

Make sure you have configured your Xbox with all the right passthrough settings etc.

The problem appears to be due to transcoding of TrueHD 7.1 audio. When I changed to AV3 5.1 files started playing. Very choppy, but playing…
