Xbox Series X - LiveTV direct stream don't work

Hello,

First of all I want to thank You for an instant updates for Plex Client on the Xbox. Right now almost everything is working well except one thing… LiveTV Direct Stream.
I have this configuration:
TVHeadend---->Xteve—>Plex DVR

When I launch TV channel on Android Client the Direct Play works as expected:

Then I launch the same TV channel on Xbox Client it seems that client always transcoding (both video and audio). I can accept that mp2 audio is not supported, but why H264 is transcoded into the same H264 video?

@ksiwy87 this has been asked quite a few times. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ve ever received a definitive answer. But it just doesn’t play it directly. It always transcodes, it’s nothing you doing wrong, it’s just the way the client plays it unfortunately :confused:.

Mayby someone from the Plex support can explain why this particular client do that?
Is there some limitation of Xbox platform? Maybe support is working on solving this issue?

Hiya. This behaviour is intentional, Live TV streams will always transcode in order to correctly play. There currently aren’t plans to change this but we will take a look at removing this limitation in the future.

It’s why I ended up buying Google TV devices for all my TV’s and no longer use the Xbox One clients… over here in Australia, Live TV is still a fairly big thing. The Google TV (android) direct plays live TV without any transcoding required… and I just don’t understand why an Xbox (which would be a heck of a lot more powerful) can’t direct play it?

Thank you @Moussa for the answer. I will patiently wait for the update, as this is a last think I would like to see in Xbox Client :slight_smile:
