I’ve been messing around and waiting for some type of update or notice on how to get the Xbox spring sale discount. I noticed the wording has changed a bit but it’s still listed.
It went from premium to activation whatever that means.
Thanks

I can’t figure out how this works. I click on the Plex listed in the spring sale. It opens up the Plex app but there is nothing about 40% off Premium Features in the app as listed on the icon you click on. I deleted the app and clicked on the icon only to go to the App page asking me to install it. I contacted Xbox support who have of been no assistance. They just said record what I do and send it in to them with my gamer tag and question. Other than that they (support) do not know what the 40% off premium features is suppose to be/do.
EDIT I rebooted my xbox 3 times. It would flip back and forth between saying “40% off premium features” and “40% off on activation”
Hoping we get clarification on what the 40% deal is and how we even take advantage of it. The only thing I could find through Google about the Plex icon in the spring sale was this thread! Really hoping we’re getting a nice deal on a lifetime Plex Pass.
The 40% off was for the Windows UWP App. Since the Plex for Xbox one app has no activation cost/fee and is not a UWP app the sale should not have been linked to the Plex for Xbox One app at all.
This is also why when you click it it simply opens the Plex app on the Xbox, because there is no purchase available for that app it skips the purchase confirmation/order screen.
Awww, bummer. Thanks for the help though!
To elaborate on @jmckee’s response:
As he mentioned, our Windows Store app is part of the “Spring Sale” and the one-time, in-app activation is 40% off until the end of the sale (April 17, I believe). Microsoft incorrectly carried that across and listed it on Xbox One, too. Our Xbox One app is free for everyone, so it doesn’t even make sense there. (Well, technically, I guess it isn’t incorrect since 40% off “free” is still “free”. ) We’re working with Microsoft to get things corrected; very sorry for any confusion.
Dang… Was hoping there was some secret announcement that Plex UWP was available on Xbox One…
@“Chris C” any plans on discounting the monthly Plex at least?

We don’t sell Plex Pass subscriptions through Xbox Live (or the Xbox One app or the Windows Store app), so that’s just not applicable. It’s always possible we could have some kind of sale on monthly subscriptions somewhere at some point in the future, but it’s unlikely we would ever announce anything like that beforehand (for obvious reasons).

For me is not showing up anywhere the option of 40%. How should I do to get it?

It’s possible Microsoft has fixed the display. To be very clear: Plex should not have shown up at all (with anything listed) for the Spring Sale on Xbox One. It’s only applicable to our Windows Store app. For the Windows Store app:

- We’re included in their Spring Sale
- The one-time, in-app activation will reflect the discount
Did all the steps, it shows me as free in the store, and as I see the Plex Pass option within the Software, it opens the website with only 20% discount.

To try to be VERY clear again:
This has nothing at all to do with a Plex Pass discount. (The only Plex Pass discount available is the “20% off lifetime” that’s available for a limited time to everyone.) Our participation in the Spring Sale is ONLY about the one-time, in-app activation of our Windows Store app. Not sure how else to explain things…
We know by now. The point was there was a mistake made and instead of offering a solution to the error that was made. Plex decided or you did on their behalf to be negative about it towards your users is the main point. You and or Microsoft could have offered a free month or discount.
I think that is the real issue people are having.
