Xbox360 Direct Stream

Hello all, first time poster and just recently got PLEX going on my xbox360 and Windows PC. I must prefice this with the fact that I'm coming from Windows Media Center -> xbox360 extender / Windows Media Player DLNA server -> xbox360 System video player. I've been exploring PLEX because I'm itching to move to Windows 8.1 and don't want to have to pay $100 for Windows 8.1 pro pack to get WMC. Plus Windows 10 is right around the corner and WMC has been completed removed in that version of Windows.

Moving on... My entire Movie library consists of blurays that I've ripped to WMV. Nearly all of the 235 movies I have are ripped to the following specs:

Video Stream:

15Mbps, 1080p, VC-1 (WMV3) Simple

Audio Stream:

440Kbps, 48KHz, 16bits, 5.1 channels, WMAPro

These movies play flawlessly in 5.1 surround on my xbox360 via either Windows Media Center or the System Video player and is the preferred format by xbox360's native video player.

With that said, why is plex transcoding my wmv's if the native player on the xbox is perfectly capable of playing this video format?

Not only that, but it appears i've lost 5.1 surround via plex. :'(

I'm not even opposed to forking over the cash for an XBox One if Plex is capable of direct streaming my WMV's, but this is a deal breaker if every player out there is going to require the Plex server to transcode my media.

Its transcoding 15Mbps video from VC-1 .wmv video with 5.1 wmapro audio to 15Mbps AVC .ts video with 2-channel 128kbps mpeg audio.

Transformer's Age of Extinction sounds like absolute garbage. and the video is choppy even via web browswer.... and i have an 8 core 3.5GHz proc and a formiddable graphics card that supports CUDA(don't know if this transcoder even utilizes CUDA technology) and I have the plex server settings set to "Make my CPU hurt". Its barely even touching 35% utilization.

Disapointed...

Disappointed to say the least. I'm in the exact same situation and am not happy about this.

Its barely even touching 35% utilization.

The reasoning for this is because if the VC-1 codec from my understanding. The transcoder for pms can only do VC-1 transcoding in a single thread (1 processor), so if 1 of your cores can keep up with it then you will see this behavior. Best thing to do here is consider transcoding the video to h264 instead which supports multithreading.
