Just wanted to say thanks to bublikoff for Xplay - works great for me so far.

In the LG Content Store it shows “Updated 03/02/2017, Version 1.2.8” - is this really the latest?
Check version in the app on settings screen … it has online update instead of update from LG apps store.
Approving even small update to LG apps store takes usually 1-2 month. Its tooo much …

Hmm i have a LG OLED and i cannot find the “online update” setting. Can you take screenshot of the setting and add it here?

This is how my settings looks like on my LG OLED. I cannot find any “online update” option at all

And also, what is the latest version of XPlay? The latest version i can find on LG content store is 1.2.8 and it was updated 03/02/2017

It has no settings … it just gets latest version from online
Here is a screenshot of settings screen with the latest version .. which is 2018019. “(ONLINE)” means that the app was loaded from online and its the latest version … “WDN” is just some debug text))) Just trying to catch one issue)

just bought the the full version. the subtitles now is not working if and only if I use play next episode. If I return back home and choose to play the next episode the subtitles works fine. But it will not work if I press play next button. By not working I mean it does not detect the subtitles file located in the same folder nor it download a new subtitles as well. Does anyone have the same issue?

@bublikoff Could you post some changelog for latest (20180119.1.2.8) version?

The app will reset “remember PIN code” state for user if different home user selected.
There is still one issue with users handling for the moment … for the moment Im trying to catch it

I like your app a lot and seems to work well but thought I would give some feedback.

I have noticed an issue where if you try to play media that is physically unavailable (for instance if Plex hadn’t yet performed a media scan after a file deletion) the player will hang for some time so adding an abort current action operation would be good.

Secondly, (this is more of a feature request) the one feature I wish Plex clients implemented was additive skipping for skip forward and backward operations. This feature is common in both the MediaPortal and Kodi players and is very useful. I am not familiar with the Plex client server playback architecture so am not sure if this can be implemented as a purely client feature.

Just checked mine, I’m running webos 2.5 in Australia. Mine says version 20170202.1.2.8 in top left corner. Tv is LG UF850T

Hi and thank you very much for your time and effort! I just bought the full version since the official app is not working correctly with 4K hevc (mkv). Great app!

I just have one question, does it support trailers before movies ? It doesn’t seem to work (although mentioned as supported in the first post).

And I believe I found a bug: when a movie has a lot of subtitles to choose from, I can’t scroll - trying to choose external and not pgs to avoid transcode…

Thanks again, I hope that you will continue the development…

After a long time of no updates, the official app has been updated with a lot of WebOS features, mostly around improving direct play:

Has anyone taken a look yet?

Any ideas why this post is in this topic? Everyone has the right to choose what to use official or not. Your post look like adv of official client … in an unsuitable place.
What about updates … there are two types of updates … internal (silent) updates that are non visible (usualy) for users but those updates improves app’s stability and internal logic.
The second type of updates add new features and functionality. Its a bit hard to add something new because of some limits from LG for apps (at least for HTML based) and there are no full PMS API documentation. There are also some other problems … UI design and have free time to work on project. Its not so easy as you can imagine … dealing with LG QA … dealing with tech problems and etc and etc.
Many … many days ago =) … Ive bought PlayZ and have used it for 3 or 4 month … and did not complain about updates … I just started own project (XPlay) to have own app the way I do see it must be.
Current version in LG apps store does not reflect the real state.
Actual version can be discovered on settings screen.
PS
Please respect my work and if you like official app you can use it without any restriction and not post news about other projects in this topic.
There are pros and cons of using official client as well as xplay … no one forces you to use official client as well as xplay … just choose the right side Neo =))

Wasn’t meant as a complaint/dig/advertisement, but I’m genuinely curious what’s going on in all actively supported clients. I figured it was healthy to know what’s going on in the ecosystem. I use both apps regularly and definitely prefer this one. It’s even more impressive knowing all the roadblocks placed in the way by LG and others.

Sorry my question came off the wrong way. Thanks for all the work you’ve put in. I’m excited to see what’s coming!

Very happy with XPlay on my LG OLED55B7A

There are two bugs that I’ve noticed:

  1. Intermittently I notice audio only coming out of the left speaker. Stopping the content and restarting seems to fix it. I’ve seen a bunch of other people mention this issue in this thread going back many months so hopefully it gets fixed.

  2. The 12 hour clock has never worked properly. It works fine until 10pm, at which it displays 22:00pm. And then every time until midnight is in 24H time.

4K HDR with external subtitles is causing buffering with directplay like every 5-10 minutes. Without the subtitles no buffering.
I have the LG Oled E7 tv connected with 5ghz wireless to a Netgear R7800 router thats right behind the TV.

Maybe something that can be looked at?

Are you sure it’s not transcoding (due to some unsupported subtitle format)? No problems here with 4k and subtitles over WiFi on a B6.

Try to disable secure connection in the network section of the Plex server configuration of your NAS.
This solved for me.

Just some info … I’m going to be “out of service” whole this week … it was quite cold here last week and now have problems with health now … need to have a rest to get better.
